Meet Your Instructor

Richard G. Powell (Dhyānānanda) - is a certified Doctor of Āyurveda and is a graduate of the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM. Richard was fortunate enough to begin his Āyurveda studies under Dr. Vasant Lad, with whom he studied extensively in both the US and in India. He furthered his studies of Ayurveda and Vedic philosophy under Dr. Ashwin Shastry of Arogya Niketana in Karnataka, India. Upon returning to the states Richard studied classical clinical Āyurveda and Panchakarma at the Arogya Center for 4 years.

In addition to Āyurveda, Richard has been studying, practicing, and teaching yoga for 25 years. He is an avid student of Sanskrit, Jyotisha (Vedic Astrology) and Vedic philosophy. After a chance meeting with Hard DeFouw, he decided to study Vedic Astrology in that lineage under several different teachers.

Before embarking on his Āyurveda studies, Richard taught and practiced Permaculture professionally in Orlando, Florida and throughout the Southeast United States and Bahamas. He brings his multifaceted healing experience into his Āyurveda and Vedic Astrology consultations with his clients to empower them to make healthier lifestyle choices and expand their spiritual practice.
